Dinner with the TWT'ers

Tonight, I'm riding to dinner with Dr. Clark Langley on his new-to-him 2004 BMW K1200 GT.
Actually, I'm riding my Super Tenere and Clark's on his new ride.
(Honest, Christi, he'll be fine.)
We're dining with a group of scooter pals at Hushpuppies -- motorcycles, fried catfish and cobbler.
It's not a long ride, but we'll curl down through the trees, travelling FM323, and make an afternoon of it.

BTW: TWT'ers stands for TwoWheeled Texans. This is just a small portion of the large group on the internet forum. TWTex.com

Clean-up

Yesterday I finally found time to erect the tent and clean it out and to dry the rain fly. Dried, cleaned and now packed away. The decision is whether to hold onto them -- just in case -- or sell them. Same decision with the sleeping bag and pad. It had been decades since I'd camped and it's not likely I'll camp again anytime soon. But one can always hope, right?
Got the oil and filter changed. I run full synth and 10,000 miles is not a stretch. With 8500 miles on it, this oil was still purple -- it looked pretty darned good.
I also washed and washed and washed and washed the bike. There's some calcium chloride-dirt baked onto one of the headers that I may never get off. I did take the bike down to the car wash and washed the under-carriage.With Jessica's advice (positioning) and help (smoothing out the wrinkles) I added the coveted D2D decal to the left side case and the TwistedThrottle decal to the right.
sometime in the next week or so I'll ride over to Jay's and we'll take the Heidenaus off. I'll put the Shinko 705 back on the front and the Michelin Anakee III on the rear -- then I'll see if I can sell the K60s. I just don't need a tire with a tread pattern that aggressive.

Friends here are asking if I'm already planning the next trip. Of course, I say yes. I'm thinking a much shorter trip -- a loop up around Lake Superior, maybe 4000 miles or so.

Thursday night is TWT dinner. It won't be much of a ride, but it'll be a ride.
